Volunteer Descriptions

Team Management & Assistance
 
Manager (Head Coach)

Responsibility for organizing practices and practice schedules as well as teaching and coaching the game of Baseball/Softball to players; Put together staff of Assistant coaches, Business Manager and Volunteer Coordinator; Follow rules and directives of Appleton Little League Board of Directors and meet specific criteria for coaching.

Assistant Coach 

Assist Manager (Head Coach) in organizing practices and practice schedules as well as teaching and coaching the game of Baseball/Softball to players; Follow rules and directives of Appleton Little League Board of Directors and meet specific criteria for coaching.

Business Manager

Help the Manager and Coaches with tracking all paperwork needed to be signed and turned into the league; Assist "Fundraising Parent" with tracking the requirements of the parents/children selling raffle tickets; Responsible for scheduling, tracking, maintaining, and tracking volunteer hours for their team players/parents.

Picture Night Volunteers 

Assist in signing in teams for individual and team photos and verifying information.

S2 (Season Two) Coaches 

Responsible for organizing practices and practice schedules as well as teaching and coaching the game of Baseball/Softball to players. Put together staff of Assistant Coaches, Business Manager and Volunteer Coordinator. Follow rules and directives of Appleton Little League Board and meet specific criteria for coaching.

Fundraising
 
Fundraising Parent 

In charge of coordinating, picking up, assigning and distributing the raffle tickets for the required fundraiser, collecting money and completed raffle ticket stubs and turning in to the Fundraising Coordinator .


Diamonds & Field Maintenance
 
USA Cleanup Day 

This is a weekend preseason event at Scheels USA Youth Sports Complex. Typical duties include install batting cage nets, refresh warning track mix, install bases, hang sponsorship signs, weed control, fence maintenance, facility improvements, and general cleanup.

Palisades Cleanup Day 

This is a weekend preseason event at Palisades Park in Fox Crossing. Typical duties include  refresh infield mix, install bases, hang sponsorship signs, weed control, fence maintenance, facility improvements, and general cleanup.

Before/After Game Day Field Prep & Clean Up 

Help prep field before game and clean up field after game. This is a seasonal task. Two volunteers will be needed per team.

Mowing USA Common Areas 

Duties include mowing the Little League common areas at Scheels USA Youth Sports Complex (once per week)

Mowing USA Fields 

Duties include mowing both Little League fields at Scheels USA Youth Sports Complex. (twice per week)

Trimming at USA Fields 

Duties include push mowing and trimming around Appleton Little League fences at Scheels USA Youth Sports Complex (once per week)

South Side Appleton Field Grooming 

Duties include trailering a field groomer to south side fields and operating a Smithco groomer.

North Side Appleton Field Grooming 

Duties include trailering a field groomer to north side fields and operating a Smithco groomer.

Field Caretaker **Adopt-a Field**

Duties include delivering and picking up field rakes and drags at the beginning of the season, performing a list of potential improvements during the spring, delivering chalk and diamond dry on an as-needed basis, and checking the locks on equipment and port-a-potty on a weekly basis. 

Leadership Opportunities
 
League Board Member or League Committee Members 

The local league Board of Directors, elected from and by the adult members of the league, is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the league within the rules, regulations and policies of Little League. See position descriptions and openings under the Board section of our website.

Interested individuals will be contacted by the Board President to discuss roles, responsibilities and qualifications. It is not a guarantee that you will be appointed or elected to the Board or as a committee chair.

Positions are based on availability and by membership vote. 

League/Division Commissioners 

Oversight of teams and enforcement of League policies for games and practices.
 

Committee Participation

Opening Days Committee 

Meet once a month when the planning begins for opening day.  Help with all the details in planning the league opening day.

Capital Fundraising Committee 

Assist the committee chairperson and the other members to raise funds to improve the league and build for the future.

End of the Year Banquet Committee 

Assist others on the committee to plan and execute the end of the year banquet.

Tournament Volunteer Committee 

Assist others on the committee to plan and execute the District Tournament to be a success.

Fundraising Volunteer Committee 

Participate in committee meetings as well as help with the raffle ticket sales program. 

 
Equipment Assistance
 
Equipment Handout 

Assist with player equipment hand out.

Equipment Turn-In 

Assist with player equipment hand in.

 
Concessions
 
Season Concessions

Assist with concessions at Scheels USA Youth Sports Complex and/or Palisades Park.

Opening Day Concessions

Assist with planning concessions or running concessions booths where needed for opening day.

 
Opening Days/Special Events
 
Timber Rattlers Game Check-In 

Assist with checking in members at our annual event and hand out tickets.

Badger Sports Park Check-In 

Assist with checking in members into the event.

Opening Days Options 

All positions below are for Opening Days only, but filling them are very critical to the success of these events.

Announcer 

Announce during the games as scheduled. More information will be emailed to you once the schedule is created.

Bounce House 

Watch over the bounce house and donation container.

Check In Table 

Greet managers and members and answer any questions.

Set Up 

Help with set up as instructed.

Concessions Worker 

Be available to work in concession areas; May be required to grill, handle food and cash, set up and break down equipment and pick up trash.

Concessions Leader 

Lead the concessions crews by getting each shift of workers signed in, organized, and assigned responsibilities.  This is a 10 credit assignment because the shift is longer than that of the concession worker and there is some leadership responsibility.

Field Prep 

Assist with dragging and prepping the fields before each game.

Griller 

Cook the food needed as instructed by the Concession Leader.

Clean Up 

Help with cleanup as instructed.

Runner 

Duties include running to store, if needed, for additional food supplies as instructed by the Concession Leader.

Scorekeeper 

Score the games where needed.

 
Other
 
On-Call Volunteer for Events 

Be available to fill in for openings to volunteer at the league events.
