A.L.L. COVID-19 Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Why has Appleton Little League suspended league activities?
A:
Before any guidance was offered from Little League International, members of the Appleton Little League Board of Directors were already discussing the suspension of activities, in consultation with our Safety Officer, Chris Swartout (RN).  During this process, we received the strong recommendation of Little League International to suspend operation until April 13.  Furthermore, on the recommendation of the CDC to limit group activities to less than 50 people, the Wisconsin Department of Health directive to limit group gatherings to less than 50 people, members of the Board of Directors took quick action to suspend A.L.L. activites until April 13.  On March 16, an additional appeal was received from Little League International to suspend in-person league activities until May 11.

Q: What is the A.L.L. COVID-19 Task Force, and why was the Task Force formed?
A: Because this situation is changing day by day, hour by hour, President Kevin Kostelecky requested that a task force be formed to react quickly to changing circumstances. The Board of Directors voted to form the task force and gave them the authority to quickly make decisions and communicate to members of Appleton Little League as the situation warrants.

Q: How many games will be played this season?
A:
At this time, A.L.L. plans on playing a full season of softball and baseball at our Rookie levels.  This may mean the season extends into July, or even August. This will depend on when in-person league activities can resume.
For our Major and Minor level players, the schedule and number of A.L.L. games played will depend on the timing of Little League district and state tournaments. The task force is consulting with the baseball and softball leadership for ways to maximize the number of games which can be played by all players.

Q: How will Major and Minor teams be formed?
A:
It is our intention to perform the normal skills assessment and draft process. If the timeline does not permit this, a "blind draft", in accordance with Little League International rules, may be conducted.

Q: Will my registration fee and other deposits be refunded?
A:
At this time, we plan to complete a full season of play at all levels. When we know more about what shape the season will take, the Board of Directors will assess how fees are impacted. Please contact covid19@AppletonLittleLeague.org if you have a financial concern.

Q: Who can I contact with additional questions?
